My Journey Through A High Conflict Custody Battle

4% of Child Custody Battles are settled through court. I am part of that 4% and here is my story.

When dealing with a high conflict custody battle, nobody wins. This is my journey through an ongoing, five year, high conflict custody battle that involves false allegations, two forensic psych evaluations, parental alienation and manipulation. This is my story around things I have learned when fighting for equal custody of my children.

I am not a lawyer, I am not a psychologist (although I do hold a master degree in psychology). My story is just that, my story. I will discuss topics such as:

  • Were there red flags from the beginning

  • My own accountability

  • Opposing counsel

  • What happens in court

  • Parental Alienation/Manipulation

  • Money

  • Supervised visitations

  • My emotional journeys

  • And much more

This will be done through audio diary files that I will post on this website. My custody case is still very much active and there is a scheduled two to three week custody trial set for May of 2025. I am not asking anyone to take sides, I am asking that you listen as I expose the extremely unfortunate reality that many, many people face when dealing with a High Conflict Child Custody Case.

Rusek Case: 20-CVD-7964

Here is my legal case number: 20-CVD-7964. I am not asking anyone to take sides or judge. I am providing this so that anyone can research this case and learn from it, understand the damage a case like this does. Given the nature of this custody battle there are a few disclosures I must make:

  • I have signed a non-disclosure agreement. This was done as there were two forensic psych evaluations conducted that included the analysis of the children and they need to be protected.

  • I will speak from my journey through all of this. I am providing the case number so listeners can investigate on their own and come to their own conclusions.

  • I encourage attendance to the upcoming trial date. I have decided to be transparent about this awful, unspoken brutality of a high child custody case.

  • I will change names so as to protect identities that are not publicly available (case # is public).
